What is Poco X3 NFC?

Why so much hype around the globe about the device?

In what category can we rate this New smartphone with the remaining devices currently circulating in the market?

These and More are some specific answers we would be answering today.

This is one of the Newest, the latest, the baddest and the hottest looking brands produced by Xiaomi in this later stage of 2020.

Released September 6th, 2020, Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC so named due to the availaibility of one of the latest connectivity called the Near Field Communications (NFC) globally. But this network is not available in most countries yet because it is yet to be integrated fully but available in countries like India, China etc.

It is a future technological advancement made available already in 2020. What a device?

  • In summary
  • SCREEN = 6.67" 1080 x 2400 pixels
  • WEIGHT = 215g
  • MAIN CAMERA = 64MP 2160p
  • PLATFORM = Android 10 MIUI 12
  • RAM = 6GB RAM
  • STORAGE = 64/128GB
  • CHIPSET = Snapdragon 732G Octa-core processor (Pioneer)
  • BATTERY SIZE = 5160mAh Li-Po

The Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC  is having the same screen sizes with that of Redmi K30,  Redmi Note 9SRedmi Note 9 pro,  and performance wise better than the Tecno Camon 16 premierINFINIX Zero 8 Redmi Note 8 Pro etc.

This device when placed side by side is dragging it out in terms of features, performance and overall efficiency with the Redmi K30 which I made a review about here recently in this forum.

As stated earlier it was launched in first week of September, 2020 and it is currently making waves almost everywhere and rumours has it that this device will be rebranded into Redmi Note 10. It is yet to be seen how true this story will become at the end of the day.

If this device comes to Nigeria I guess it will be unofficial because currently xiaomi only focus on the Redmi Note series only. But be rest assured to get this device very soon.

A 6.67 inch FHD LCD display was used on this gorgeous device.  Which is also the screen size used on Redmi K30, Redmi Note 9 pro and Redmi Note 9S. So xiaomi have really used this same screen size on a lot of device.

The large display is attached with a 1080 by 2400 pixel display, that has really added more display efficiency to this device. Object displayed on this screen were as very clear as anything you could think of in the display department.

This display is of advantage to watching of HD movies and gaming at high resolutions. The only downside is this device not using an Amoled screen although the Redmi K30 Pro uses that.

It has approximately 395 ppi density with a Brightness level above 500 nits mark. This has made the device usable under direct sunlight as it was bright enough without one having to stress his/her retina.

The 85% screen to body ratio helps remove the extra body on this device leaving it with just 15% body ratio. This is highly commendable as almost every part of the phone is cover with screen.

The screen houses a tiny cut out that is so minute for the selfie camera just at the top-middle of the device. You could also call the cut out a punch hole cut out housing the selfie camera. The cutout as a matter of fact wont affect anything going on, on the screen as it is so minute as mentioned above.

interestingly, The Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC  supports 120Hz refresh rate and upto 240Hz Screen response rate first of its kind fellas.

I was amazed watching the fluidity and smoothness on this screen as everything happens almost immediately. Guys Technology is advancing, really fast and don’t be left behind because you might struggle to catch up later.

Point worthy of Notice; This device though with a powerful chipset and a wonderful battery rate will experience a bit faster battery rate. Reasons due to the fact that the 120Hz and 240Hz screen refresh and response rate will have it toll on the battery life and you should expect a bit of battery consumption more than usual because of this addition.

But it should not be a downside, just stating the fact.

The pioneer of Snapdragon 735G powerful gaming processor with an 8nm fabrication for power efficiency is used on this device. It is much more better than the SD 730G used on Redmi K30 and the Snapdragon 720G used on both Redmi Note 9 pro and 9S devices. Welcome to the world of comfort. Smoothness and enjoyment under the guide of Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC .

As described on Qualcomm website "
announced the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 732G Mobile Platform, a follow-on to the Snapdragon 730G. Snapdragon 732G is designed to deliver immersive gameplay backed by smarter, faster artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated performance, including an upgraded GPU and CPU compared to the previous generation".

The gameplay experience is superb, fast, smooth, under a fast refresh rate. The device automatically switches refresh rates based on the kind of game in question.

It was several hour of gameplay and I was not tired, neither was the device unable to serve its purpose. So if you are a heavy gamer, don’t think twice on this device my friend.

There was no lagging at all during gameplay even heating level was below 40 degrees after heavy gameplay and even multitasking.

I was able to edit site files, edit videos for YouTube and other heavy stuffs at ease due to this potent processor.

Adreno 618 GPU was attached along with an Octa-core CPU to the Snapdragon 730G Processor.

Listen if you are coming from a device using SD 720G or SD 730G you wont notice much difference in terms of processor activity except you keenly observe and compare their performances side by side.

The internal storage placed on the Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC are 64GB and 128GB variants. Meaning if you need an extra storage capacity you could choose the storage variant that suits you.

Added to this is a provision for an SD card slot but its uses shared SIM card slot. I can paraphrase this to say that this device SD card slot is a non dedicated slot.

If you want to use an SD card you would have a sacrifice one of your SIM cards to accommodate it.

The device is made with 6GB RAM variant only for both The 64Gb and the 128GB ROM respectively. This configurations will go along way in assisting the smoothness of this device as it has always been. In terms of additional storage facility, this device does not include a dedicated SD Card Slot. One need to sacrifice a sim card for an Sd card or an SD card for dual sim cards. which ever way you will still enjoy this device.

This is how the memory configurations looks like

A 64MP main camera is attached onto this device. If you could recall you would notice that Xiaomi Redmi Note Note 8 Pro is the pioneer of this Camera. An unbelievably beautiful is the output of this camera.

The following are the main Camera configurations

64 MP for (wide purpose)

13 MP, for ultrawide

2 MP, for (macro)

2 MP, for (depth)

It Features a dual-LED flash, HDR, and a panorama mode. The video recording is capped at 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/120fps, 720p@960fps unbelievably sweet right?

The 13MP camera for ultawide is the focal point here because the 64MP main camera is now becoming the norm of the day but its combination with 13MP is unique because I have always been coming across 5MP camera only for long now. And this is definitely a good upgrade in this regard.

But you must be aware that Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi K30 and Redmi Note 9 pro are both using this same camera.

In terms of pictures beautiful and realistic photos were taken with this device with all the details appearing  or surfacing properly.

A 20 MP main selfie camera functioning at 1080p@30fps is fabricated into this device front facing camera. The camera is smooth with all the beauty filters attached to the MIUI 12 it comes with out of the box.

The Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC came out of the box with the latest MIUI 12 on Android 10 operating system. Those who have already gotten the MIUI 12 OS have been sharing their testimonies of how really good this particular OS is. It has a better optimizations and fluidity over its predecessors, the MIUI 11. And with the MIUI 12 Users have no reason to worry because the OS is as sweet as that on the iPhone

This OS is smooth in terms of operations with new features, clearity, good optimization and real life feeling during operation.

In this area this device Supports almost every thing when you talk about connections and connectivity capabilities.

It has  an upgraded Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity along with a GPS. Other connectivity include, NFC, INFRARED PORT for remote control, WLAN, FM radio, USB type C  all for your operational excellence.

I didn't noticed any challenges with any other the connectivity options available as every thing worked perfectly.

But the usage of some of these Network connectivity depends on location, take for example the availability of NEAR FIELD CONNECTIVITY (NFC) which is not currently available in most countries,. meaning it cannot be used even though the device has it. It's not Xiaom's fault though.
The radio stations worked really great but you have to use an earpiece as an antenna before your radio could work.
WiFi CONNECTIVITY was smooth and Hotspot hosting was also very great.

The device Supports a side mounted fingerprint sensor placed on the power button. It was easy to reach.and fast in response when unlocking the phone.

Other security options include the pattern, Pin, and password which one could use as a means of protection against unauthorized access and usage. This is really great design

This design is becoming prominent and common now because many OEMs have bought into using this idea.

I was amazed when I saw the battery rating or capacity place on this device. Honestly it is very very good and large one.
A Li-Po 5160 mAh, non-removable battery was used which is having a Fast charging ability of 33W, 62% in 30 min, 100% in 65 min as (advertised). This Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC does it a little bit better than the Redmi K30 in terms of charging speed but having the same charging speed with the Redmi Note 9 pro but battery capacity is better though.
A large battery available for a large screen with higher refresh rate balanced the equation for me.
The Screen on time was 24 hours of moderate usage and about 12 hours of heavy usage, I mean real heavy usage.

But do you need to complain if the battery drain because within an hour your battery will be fully charged, kudos to Xiaomi because you don't need to spend the whole day charging your device. Time is expensive my friend.

In times of charging time You will only get this charging speed only if you switched off your device while charging or When your device is charging under flight mode.
But if you are charging this device and using it at the same time then you would expect a longer than 1 hour 20 minutes to fully charge. Which is why it is advisable to not make use of a device while charging because it could affect it seriously.

The loudspeaker was very loud producing a bass output just like an.mp3 player. I am particular about the design language of this device. The body build is excellent because It looks and feels smart to touch and hold. The placement of the camera set-up is nice giving it a beautiful and unique outlook. The curviness of the device made the device easier to hold when operating.
The sim slots placement and the finger print placement is just ok.
Then the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 used on both front and back serves as a real protection to the device with premium quality feel that attracts attention on sight.
The CABALT blue and shadow grey colors are captivating based on the glassy nature of the device, reflecting in all directions. This is a beautiful device.

The current price of this device in Nigeria is N110, 000 for the 6GB RAM 128GB ROM variant that is common in Nigeria today, this device is really worth it with no questions asked based on this price. If it were to be other brands this device would probably be going for around N130k but just imagine this bonanza of a gift from Xiaomi.

This device is 100% worth it but you should consider vividly before selling your device which might be using Snapdragon 720G, 730G because their differences is just negligible. Go for what you want though because premium feel and flagship experience is a story one needs to share himself. You can purchase it from reliable online platform like from Jumia Here and Konga Here   those are the places WHERE TO BUY In Nigeria.

The colours are the beautiful Cabalt Blue and Shadow Grey. So make your choice and choose the colour that suits you.

Frankly speaking I don't know what chipset producers are doing these days especially Qualcomm themselves. It seems the competition from Rival Chipset producers like MediaTek is really beginning to keep them off balance. If you observe the SD 720, SD 730G and now SD 732G you would realize that the differences is just as little as anything probably forcing OEM to produce devices every now and then. Am not complaining but just stating the fact. why rebranding the same processor over and over again without upto 2% efficiency increase.

That aside this device is just great and guys in nigeria should probably expect this device coming in as one of the Redmi Note 10 series because the fact is almost out plain.

the 120Hz and 240Hz screen and response rate is the captivating part of this device. the Chipset again should give us reason to attempt getting this device not forgetting the large battery capacity and a fast charging ability. the camera is standard one and worthy of noticing. This a absolutely a better device over the Redmi K30 selling at N100, 000, Redmi Note 9 Pro selling at N110, 000, Tecno Camon 16 premier and INFINIX Zero 8 both selling at about N120k.

This is a good deal and best budget for money, also remember that this device will still be relevant in the next 5 to 6 years so what are your doubts about?

Enjoy flagship experience on a mid range device. It is as simple as that.
