Moreso, you should be aware that it is not only the Megapixel sizes that determines the prices of Smartphones across all levels. But there are other factors that OEMs put into consideration before placing a price point on a device. These include the
  • Processor or Chipset used
  • The screen display size and type used
  • The battery sizes
  • The extra features embedded into a smartphone and so much more. Please check Here or the HOW TO section of this blog for full gist.

FACTORS THAT DETERMINE BEST PICTURE QUALITY ON A SMARTPHONES

You should be aware that megapixels counts doesn't determine the best picture quality on a smartphone. Take for example pictures taken by Samsung lenses are just absolutely superb. Added to that is the camera optimizations ability by an OEM or Smartphone brand.

I was amazed to see an 5 Megapixel on a Gionee M5 beat the 13 megapixels used on Gionee M6. One should have expected a 13 megapixel camera to beat a 5 megapixel camera but reverse is the case.

This is purely software-ish problem. When you see pictures taken with a 48 megapixels lenses on Huawei, Samsung's, Xiaomi, Google Pixel and iPhone you would be tempted to ask is there corruption going on in the Smartphones department? We'll the answer is simple. It is due to perfect software and camera app optimizations and configuration ability and capabilities. That is generating a great camera performance.

Furthermore if we digress to TRANSSION Devices in the form of Tecno, infinix and item and then brands like Oppo etc you would noticed a poorer picture quality when compared to the earlier mentioned devices.

Please do not be deceived by camera Megapixel count. If you are about to obtain a smartphone based on camera performance the following scale of preference would help.

  • 1. Know your budget
  • 2. Make a list of Smartphones across all brands that their prices falls between your budget.
  • 3. Begin to sieve from brand to brand until you land on the best device available under any of the brands. With these you should be able to safely land Without crashing.
  • Camera lens maker or the company of production
  • Camera app used
  • Camera optimizations
  • Software optimizations
  • Weather
  • Preset used
  • Camera settings combination abilities
  • Cleanliness of camera lens
  • Human factors
  • Hand tremor

• How you take photos is different
• Lighting, objectives, angle of shooting, hands tremor matter a lot
• Some consider stability, some sharpness, some advanced features.
• One xml or setting can't give u same output in every scenario because you have small sensors in ur phone
