Tecno Camon 17P & Camon 17 Pro With a 48mp Selfie Camera Launched In Nigeria

Earlier, Tecno launched the Camon 17 in Kenya. Now, the smartphone manufacturer is expanding the lineup with new smartphones. Tecno has launched two new devices in Nigeria and Kenya. They are named Tecno Camon 17P and Camon 17 Pro. They are not much different but the Pro version has additional benefits. Let’s check out each device below.

Tecno Camon 17P

The 17P comes with a  6.8-inch IPS LCD panel. It has a resolution of FHD+ 1080 x 2460 pixels and comes with 395 PPI, 500 nits peak brightness, and an 82% screen-to-body ratio. Thankfully, more brands are switching to punch hole notch. It makes the device look modern. Teardrop notch is a big no for me.

Moving to the camera department, there is a quad rear camera setup on Camon 17P. It comprises a 64MP primary shooter, a 2MP macro, a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI lens. Unfortunately, to cut the costs, the Camon 17P lacks an ultra-wide. On the front, you will find a 16MP selfie shooter. Powering the device is an Helio G85 chipset. There is a huge 5000mAH battery on the Camon 17P with 18W fast charging support. Color options for Camon 17P are Frost Silver, Magnet Black, Spruce Green.

Tecno Camon 17 Pro

The Camon 17 Pro has a similar 6.8-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display. However, it gets a 90Hz higher refresh rate. On the camera side, the Camon 17 Pro gets an ultra-wide sensor instead of an AI sensor. The front selfie camera is a 48MP shooter instead of 16MP on the Camon 17P....

Camon 17 Pro features the Helio G95 chipset. It seems like this phone is going against Realme 8. There is a 5000mAH battery on the Pro model however it supports a faster 25W charging. As a bonus, the Pro model also has stereo speakers. Both of the phones come with HiOS 7.6 based on Android 11. Color options for this phone are Dream Silver and Malibu Blue.

Price and variants

Currently, the devices are available in Nigeria and Kenya. The 6/128GB model of Tecno Camon 17P is priced at ₦97,000 (~$236). While the 8/256GB model of the Tecno Camon 17 Pro has a price tag of ₦130,000 (~$317). For now, it seems like there is a single variant of each. We are expecting to see these devices in other regions as well. What are your opinions on Camon 17P and Camon 17 Pro? Let us know in the comments section below.

IPhone 13 Series to Bring 120Hz Refresh Rate, Display Produced by Samsung

Reports from Gizchina indicates that While Android smartphones have now crossed the 144Hz barrier when it comes to the refresh rate of display panels, Apple is still sticking with the standard 60Hz. It looks like that might soon change as the Cupertino-based iPhone maker could end up bringing 120Hz refresh rate panels to the next-gen devices i.e. iPhone 13. If that happens, this would be due to the competitor Samsung.

The same source added that iPhone 13 series will feature a 120Hz refresh rate display supplied by Samsung

According to a new emerging report, Samsung Display will supply low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) displays to Apple for its top-tier iPhone 13 offerings. With top-tier, we might be looking at the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. It is worth noting that iPhones might not see 120Hz or higher refresh panels without the use of LTPO tech. Of course, there’s a reason behind it.

For those who’re unaware, LTPO brings a power-efficient backplane meaning a higher refresh rate can be achieved without any major expense on the battery life. With LTPO panels, Apple would be able to deliver high refresh rates to iPhones while also not worrying about battery life. With that said, Samsung appears to be the one supplying the panels. In fact, the report claims that the chaebol is going to be an exclusive supplier to Appel for these panels.

Apart from this, Apple will also rely on Samsung for another crucial part. We’re looking at the Rigid Flexible Printed Circuit Boards or RFPCB. For those who’re unaware, RFPCB is the part that connects the OLED panel to the mainboard. RFPCB would be a crucial component to connect LTPO panels. Of course, it will be supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics.

This new report is surprising considering Apple is trying its best to reduce its reliance on Samsung. To give you the perspective, Apple is looking to source around 169 million OLED panels in the year 2021 alone. Out of which, Samsung will deliver 110 million units to the company.

Here’s what to expect from the next-gen smartphones!
This is not the first time we’re hearing about iPhone 13. In fact, a couple of days ago, the render images of the device made an appearance on the web. According to the new render, the next-gen iPhone appears to follow the same design ideology but with small differences. You can find more about these differences in the original story that we’ve covered.

Bomber: Infinix Note 10 Pro is arriving Nigeria on May 13

Finally, we can gladly attest to the fact that infinix mobile brand are gradually increasing their tempo of releasing high level mid range devices.

We are talking about the infinix Note 10 Pro that will soon be launched in Nigeria.

The Infinix Note 10 Pro appeared in a leaked render last month, according to GSMArena and we also saw a couple of its live images a few days ago, which revealed its design and two color options. Today we learn the smartphone will be introduced on May 13.

This revelation comes from Infinix's Pakistan branch, which confirmed the Note 10 Pro will be up for pre-orders in the Asian country from May 16, with sales commencing two days later.

If that happens, we should probably be expecting this same device to be launched in African Market within the same period of time. Since Africa especially Nigeria is her biggest market.

The company also shows us the Note 10 Pro in a previously unseen Black color, but unlike the other two variants, this one has a two-tone design

Infinix hasn't shared the specs sheet of the Note 10 Pro yet, but the smartphone's Google Play Console and FCC listings revealed it will come with 8GB RAM, Android 11, 256GB storage, 33W charging, and a 1080p display. This is likely an LCD panel since the Note 10 Pro features a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Google Play Console listing also includes the Helio G90 SoC, however, there are rumors the Note 10 Pro will come with G90T or G95.

The G90T Chipset is not new to users of brands like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro released 2019.

Hopefully, we'll have more clarity about the chipset and the price point as we inch closer to the Note 10 Pro's announcement in Nigeria.
