Xiaomi has officially launched the Mi 10T series in Nigeria on 16th December, 2020.

After its launch globally few months back, when I made a post about Best Phones Ever? Xiaomi Has Globally Released 5G Mi 10T Lite, Mi 10T & Mi 10T Pro With The Latest Technology Most Nigerians have been anticipating as to When other series apart from the Redmi note series would be launched.

Well, wait no more because the waiting is over. The following Mi 10T series were launched today in Nigeria.

1. Xiaomi mi 10T 5G selling at N231, 000

2. Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro Selling at N265, 000

The major highlights of today's launch is the pricing. The pricing is high though which I believe is due to current NAIRA-DOLLAR PALLAVA. But I believe with time these prices would be sliced.

The Mi 10T series are basically a futuristic devices embedded with 5G modems which is yet to be available in Nigeria.

A high end or flagship processors and a very high screen refresh rate. You will be in for a ride with the flash.

But the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite was left out during the launch and presentation today. I do not know the reason but I think the lite version would have been prefered to the likes of Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Poco X3 NFC and many others.

But all things being equal, hopefully the Lite version would go on sale also in Nigeria soon if not from Official Xiaomi Retail Stores nation wide, I can bet you could get them via Offline sellers on Nairaland.

Huawei Y6p - Complete Review, Specifications, Comparisons & Price In Nigeria

INTRODUCTION TO Huawei Y6p

Huawei mobile brand has been one of the leading smartphones manufacturers in the world. Having been known for producing fantastically great devices over the years. Huawei hit rock bottom after being placed on moratorium or should I say ban by US government from acquiring Chipset for their phones.

We'll that has not stop them though as they have found an alternative to production. And hence the release of Hauwei Y9a and Hauwei Y6p recently in Nigeria and globally.

The highlights of these devices is that, Hauwei have opted to use MediaTek Chipset on both phones. Especially the Huawei Y9a is here with the well known MediaTek Helio G80 Chipset which has been used also on Redmi9. While the MediaTek Helio P22 Chipset has been used on the entry level Huawei Y6p.

If there is any brand standing out globally in terms of Android smartphones, then Hauwei, Samsung, Xiaomi, Nokia and Google pixels are the top contenders.

So which smartphone is Hauwei Y6p and what are its Features, Specifications, price, advantages, disadvantages and highlights of Hauwei Y6p?

As advertised on Huawei social media handle: Pre-order HUAWEI Y6p now for NGN 65, 000  & get a FREE gift. Enjoy a stunning 6.3" ultra Full View display, 40W SuperCharge & 3GB + 64 GB huge storage. Get access to a million apps with Petal Search.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S21 ULTRA WILL ARRIVE WITH FIVE CAMERAS AND A FASTER CHARGING SPEED

In the first quarter of 2021, Samsung will introduce an updated line of Galaxy S smartphones series. We would be anticipating about three new products: Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Galaxy S21 Ultra will arrive with five cameras and a faster charging speed
Starting 2021, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series will lose the status of the most premium devices; which were the most technologically advanced devices in the company’s lineup. Now, the Galaxy Z series foldable smartphones will be at the forefront of progress; so you shouldn’t expect something revolutionary from the Galaxy S21 family.

The battery capacity will be 5,000 mAh; and the company will go to increase the charging speed, bringing its power up to 65 W. It will almost certainly offer support for wireless and reverse charging, and rumor has it that the Galaxy S21 Ultra will have a stylus in the box.

TECNO Spark 5 Pro - Complete Review/Guide, PROS & CONS (Before you Buy in Nigeria)

TECNO Spark 5 Pro - Complete Review/Guide to Tecno Spark 5 PROS & CONS (Before you Buy in Nigeria)

Introduction To The Tecno Spark 5 Pro:

Tecno Spark 5pro is a mobile phone and device that was launched July, 2020 specifically as a Low end budget phone. This device promises a great deal of smooth function based on its ability and capabilities as regards the microprocessor.

This device is running on the MediaTek Helio A22 Chipset. If correctly optimized could perform wonders.

Tecno spark 5 Pro in summary

Screen size = 6.6" 720x1600 pixels

Main Camera = 16MP 1080p

RAM 4GB

ROM 64 GB

CHIPSET = Helio A22 Octa-core processor

BATTERY SIZE = 5000mAh Li-Po

Here is the full review of Tecno spark 5 Pro.

As earlier mentioned this is a 2020 device with a giant screen coupled with one of the best range of battery available in the market.

This device should be compared with devices like the Redmi 7, Redmi 8a, Redmi 9aRedmi 9c etc.

Display Size of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

The display placed on this device is a whopping large 6.6 inches screen. A very long phone to be precise. If you are to measure this device with a ruler in centimetres, it should be  about 17cm long depending on how wide the screen is.

So this device feels heavy in the hand from user experience. During operation you would have to use both hands to support this device in order to avoid accident of such.

The Pixels resolution is 720 by 1600 a low pixel display. Other brands have forfeited this pixel for a higher one.

But the good thing is Tecno and other brands Alike are gradually improving on this area as Tecno Camon 16 premier is debuting with over 1080p.

This giant screen is also housing a punch hole for the front facing camera at the top left side of the screen. This would not pose a threat whatsoever to the display.

An IPS LCD screen is used on this device. At least you wouldn't expect more than this from a budget friendly device.

So this is a normal display used today for a budget friendly devices even the top mid rangers so called across most brands are still using an LCD SCREEN. So do not be irritated with the display as it functions brightly.

Also Read@>> Before You Buy - Complete Review/Guide to Redmi 9C (Global) PROS & CONS

Therefore, if you intend on purchasing this device, the display or screen size should not put you off as the giant screen advantages outweighs it's disadvantages.

But honestly speaking there are other brands currently doing better in terms of low end budget devices at an affordable rate.

CHIPSET OR MICROPROCESSOR Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

In case you are not aware or have little or no knowledge about microprocessors.

A microprocessor or Chipset in a lay man language is the brain and engine behind the overall functionality and direct control of your device.

It accepts, process, stores and produce desire results within split seconds. So the more powerful a processor is the faster and better it produces results.

Folks today could purchase a device of this sort and expect it to perform Andre the Giant wonders without considering the technology and brain behind the device which is absurd.

As listed in the 8 Features & Factors to Consider Before Buying any Smartphone or Android Device ( No. 4 Will Shock You) in 2020, If you have read and understood the post purchasing this device should come with least expectations.

You must ask and respond to these questions before proceeding.

Do you know what you want from your device?

What is your budget as you are about to get a device? And can the device you about to purchase grant you or provide you with your desires

These are few questions you need to answer your self before regretting your actions of purchasing any device.

This chip can serve you moderately when using light applications and games. If you want to use this device for heavy demanding apps then you would be disappointed because of the results you would be getting.

Facebooking, twittering, Instagram, browsing, chatting, playing light games should be the order of the day on this device.

From my experience this Chipset gets heated when either using heavy apps, video recording, charging and or using the device while charging.

Though few of these could be reduced with good OS optimization but the HIOS still has a lot of optimization waiting to be perfected.

STORAGE And RAM Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

The storage capped on this device is 64 GB of ROM where all the data's and files are stored permanently while the RAM which assist the Chipset to function properly is capped at 2GB. This is too low for me as it has the ability to truncate or reduce the level of multitasking.

Meaning you can not open an app, and  then minimize and finally return to it again after 5 minutes expecting to continue from where you stop. Instead the app will reload that page afresh.

This is one of the main disadvantage of the device. But that should not be a problem since you as an individual is aware of the device limitations before purchasing.

Added to this category is a dedicated SD CARD SLOT for additional storage incase the internal storage of 64 GB is not enough. So here you are without any reason to complain at all.

Battery Size Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

I know that the battery placed on this device is really tempting as it would serve for a long time, having a long Screen on Screen time of almost 24 hours of uninterrupted continuous usage.

The battery size is a whopping 5000mAh non removable battery supporting 10W charging speed at the maximum.

Although the charging speed is slow which could last up to 2 and half hours to get fully charge, but it should not come as a surprised based on its price.

The battery life of this device is good if not for the giant screen that consumes power more and the overheating of the micro processor. But in all it is a good one.

Camera Performance Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

The main camera is a 16MP camera with an 8MP front camera. Am a bit disappointed because the main camera performance was almost as the 8MP camera.

I know that the camera optimization is responsible for this and Tecno should fix this with system update. If you compare.the performance of this camera with the likes of Gionee M5 and Redmi phones you would know exactly what am talking about.

The beauty filters and other filters are poorly affecting photos taken with this device.

The front facing camera is not left out as it is an 8MP camera. Don't expect much and you might be satisfied with it's output, who knows? After all it's been said that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Body Build Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

The body build of this device is made of plastic material at the back and at the frame. So in terms of premium feel this is not that kind of device. The weight of the battery coupled with a giant screen size added extra weight to this device. So the build quality is averagely constructed.

PLATFORM OR OS

This device came with Android 10 attached to this is the unique Tecno skin called HIOS 6.1. not the best though but good to go. This android version is power efficient and it should add extra juice to the battery life of this device.

The downside in the aspect is the buggy and heavy nature of the HIOS Which came preinstalled with some bloat wares. Try to uninstall them though.

CONNECTIVITY Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

The connectivities embedded into this device are from 1G network to 4G Networks with a support for dual Sims. At least with a stable 3G and 4G Networks you shouldn't have a problem browsing or surfing the net or even downloading at high speed internet connection.

Furthermore, it supports a Bluetooth connectivity, a WiFi connection, Hotspot connection and so on. So the connection capabilities on this device are moderately fabricated as usual.

EXTRA FEATURES Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

This device speaker is loud but not the best sound quality you could get. The loudspeaker and the earpiece were loud enough during phone calls and you should not struggling with hearing during phone calls.

Next is the finger print sensor that this device came with which is a booster to the rating of this device. It is placed at the back close to the camera configurations and it is easy to reach and fast when used.

There is also a 3.5mm jack for headphones and earphones. Meaning you don't have to rely on the loud speaker at all times for your music or video listening pleasure

The traditional USB 2.0 is used here as charging and connection port. At least I expected this device to come with USB type C as it is with the trend nowadays.

FM radio is supported on this device incase you derive pleasure in listening to radio stations of your choice. An additional bonus

Finally this device supports GPS for location tracking and other features.

COLOURS Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro

Ladies and gentlemen the colours of this device are in 4 Different forms which include

Ice Jadeite,

Spark Orange,

Vacation Blue,

Misty Grey

Which ever colour you decide on choosing, I presumed that you won't regret your decision it's just a matter of colour.

PRICE Of Tecno Spark 5 Pro in Nigeria

The current price of Tecno Spark 5 Pro is N65, 000 in Nigeria. Wow, this is a high price for a device tagged a low end device. If you check out devices like Redmi 9a, Redmi 9c and others we are supposed to categorize at the same level based on battery size, screen, performance and processors are selling at a lesser price. Why N50k?

The price tag on this device is really high, but if you are ok with it ticking all the boxes based on your expectations from a mobile device, then you have no reason to doubt your self.

You can purchase it from reliable online platform like from Jumia Here and Konga Here   those are the places WHERE TO BUY In Nigeria.

CONCLUSION

I will end by saying this, am not in any wise bashing this phone but based on performance and Specifications and in Comparisons with other brands around us I will say that this device really has a competition from all end that could sway potential buyers away frantically, sincerely and realistically.

But as a fan and a user of Tecno devices for long, one may be ok with this. Whichever way is ok. But I just took out some minutes out of my time to enlighten you as individuals on this device.

Gionee S12 Lite - Complete Review, Specifications, Comparisons & Price - In Nigeria

INTRODUCTION TO GIONEE S12 LITE

After reviewing the new Gionee S12 that was released in September, 2020. Today I decided to pick up it's lite version called Gionee S12 Lite to review also.

Gionee as we all know are into the market of producing mid range devices. Their devices are strong and durable. I could refer to their devices as Dell in the computer world. Their devices always looks premium with fantastic user experience. But the only problem is their inability to release system updates for their Mobile phones.

An eye opener part 2: Reasons Why Your Mobile Data Plan is Not Lasting as Usual

Guys, after writing the first article in an eye opener earlier, which is An eye Opener Before Buying a New Smartphone: Should I Dump My Current Phone For The Latest Device? I was faced with another question from an individual based on the reason why his current smartphone is busy consuming his data than the usual. Basically he was comparing his data usage between his new smartphone and the old one since they are from the same brand and he was using the same Network provider.

Well, Questions of this nature has various answers attached to it because hug data consumption from mobile device depends on many factors which I will be discussing below in details. Gone are the days about a decade ago when we were making use of Feature phones form Nokia, Sony Ericsson and so many others. You will realise that these devices screen sizes were basically a mere 320 by 240 screen sizes. Very small indeed right?

More so is the camera Megapixel sizes then of 1 to 10 Megapixel in size. You hardly consume 10 Megabytes within a month due to the low nature of screen resolutions and data sizes. And that was then, but now things have greatly changed and technology has greatly improved accordingly. So here are some listed reasons why you data consumption is very high?

FACTORS THAT DETERMINE MOBILE DATA CONSUMPTION

  • 1. Large Screen Sizes or Resolution
  • 2. Increase in Network speed and exchange of data at 3G and 4G
  • 3. High picture quality and resolutions
  • 4. Viewing Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram status updates
  • 5. Watching Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube videos
  • 6. Auto synchronisation of datas to clouds
  • 7. Putting on device data whenever transfer of files from xender is made
  • 8. Unrestricted hotspot connection
  • 9. Slow operation and response of smartphone

Permit me to elaborate on each of the above listed factors

1. Large Screen Sizes or Resolution is greatly impacting and having a toll on data plans these days. And as you have noticed from Smartphones manufacturers nowadays, they are daily increasing screen sizes on their latest Devices. Check the Reviews section of this blog, you will notice that.

As of of 2017 you would noticed that the highest and largest screen sizes on a smartphone was at 5.5 inch to 6.0 in displays. But as of 2018 till date, screen sizes have increased from 6.0 inch displays to about 7.0 inch as of 2020 ending. These increase in screen sizes has to come with Extra cost of more data consumption when browsing, taking pictures or uploading data's online.

The larger the screen size the more data the device will consume. If you are a large screen admirer then you should learn how not to complain because you should know that large screen demands more data. So in terms of data consumption, you can't control this number one if your phone screen is around 6.3 to 7.0 inch Display. Rather I will encourage you to posses more courage for regular subscription because your data must disappear.

So what am saying in essence is this, if your former Smartphone was having a 5.5 inch display and now your new device is having a 6.7 inch display. You should know that there is a great increase in the screen size. So if your old phone was consuming maybe 2mb per page during browsing, now expect 4 to 5 mb data consumption per page. It is not a magic, it's a fact. Except you decide not to use data on that smartphone.

2. Secondly,  Increase in Network speed and exchange of data at 3G and 4G. My friend, your former phone was probably operating on 3G only and now your new phone has 4G probably 5G Network which by default has twice the speed of your former 3G network. When you are operating your device, those pages will be loading very fast, smoothly with the speed of light and you might think that those pages are not heavy or large, based on that you keep browsing and opening pages anyhow without thinking about the repercussions. My friend, prepare to spend more on data purchase because of that.

Note the the higher the Network connectivity, the higher the speed of loading pages, and the higher data consumption because alot is done within the shortest time possible but it won't prevent high data consumption. Sometimes you could get 3G speed at almost 2 megabytes per second and around 3 to 4 megabytes per second speed on 4G depending on Network quality and the service provider. Although we are still battling with poor network reception and Quality in Nigeria from almost all Network providers.

So with this kind of speed, you will be tempted to open everything you see online. Not knowing that the sweeter the juice, the shorter the lifespan of it's consumer due to its high  sugar level or content. Please take note of this and adjust the way you visit sites or watch unnecessary videos because of high speed Network

3. Next is the High picture quality and resolutions. Gone are the days when camera Megapixel sizes were between 5 MP to 16 MP. But now we have camera Megapixel sizes of 13, 16mp, 20mp, 32mp, 48Mp, 64mp and 108mp. With this high megapixel you will realise picture sizes of 3MB to even 10MB. My friend, whenever you intend uploading such a picture to either WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram or any online backup medium. Those pictures will consume exactly the same amount of data as it's size. So if you upload let's say 10 pictures, your device would have consumed almost 100MB depending on picture sizes.

These high pictures sizes helps in retaining picture quality even when zoomed. The reasons for such a high level of mega pixel. So if you intend uploading pictures online or even videos, you should do that knowing fully well the cost of doing so. Therefore if you are managing your data, then you need to upload only the most important pictures and save the rest of your data.

4. I have seen a friend complaining of data zapping and he told me that he only uses the social media apps and I laughed at his ignorance. Ladies and gentlemen, these days social media is at the helm of data zapping. Reasons due to the fact that almost every WhatsApp or Facebook user today tend to update their status on both WhatsApp and facebook. Some even go to the extent of uploading multiples 1 minute videos. And most users are tempted to view almost all status updates thereby truncating data validity and lifespan.

Until you learn how to skip most of the WHATSAPP status updates, then and only then can you be able to save some data juice for your self. Therefore stop complaining about data shortage and act wisely. If not prepare to continue spending on unnecessary data because of Viewing Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram status updates

5. Watching Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube videos: This also goes inline with the previous factor. But this is basically talking about videos. Let me break this to you. If you are using normal Facebook app for Android, you will realise that anytime you logged in to your Facebook account using that app, videos begin to play automatically.

And if you are the type that is easily carried away, you will be lost in the ocean of entertainment at the expense of your data. You should know that videos are always the top data consumption activity that is been carried out on Android today.

Instead you could decide to settle for Facebook lite and stop viewing those WhatsApp videos being posted anyhow without relevant additional information to its viewers.
But if you have the data, there is no cause for alarm.

6. Auto synchronisation of datas to cloud is one of the bad ass data consumer on Android devices today. One of the people I worked for called me a certain time like that and he was bitterly complaining of his monthly data plan that got  expired just a day after subscription. The man on His previous android smartphone turned on automatic synchronisation of photos to Google cloud via Google photos.

So when he got his new smartphone, he just logged in to his Google account and Lo and behold all the backup photos where automatically restored to his New device without his consent. Stuffs like this happens, but if you know how to set up your device properly you could prevent most of these unnecessary data consumption activities.

So device even goes to the extent of backing up a whole gallery that includes videos. Some even documents, music and game files inside the phone. Then tell me how data will last on these devices?

The best option is to turn off automatic synchronisation of any kind. So that anytime you feel like synchronizing to cloud, you will prepare adequately for that.

7. Putting on device data connection whenever a transfer of files from xender is made also impact on data plans. The day I learnt how and why I needed to turn off my data connection when connecting and transferring files from xender over hotspot was when I was transferring some movie to a friend. Little did I know that this guy doesn't subscribe for data plans. So when he joined my hotspot all his data hungry app began to function with Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, browsers and everything began to receive updates. Including play store. I never noticed it because the movies were large and many so that gave his device the advantage to really feed on an awoof data plan.

It really got me upset and I was really gobsmacked at the same time as to how my data was consumed within the shortest period of time. When connecting to devices via file sharing app that uses hotspot like xender, you would want to help your self by turning off your data to a avoid stories that touch the soul.

8. Unrestricted hotspot connection: I have already spoken on this aspect above. But under this it doesn't has to do with xender. It has to do with turning on Hotspot normally for other devices to feed on. Some of us doesn't restrict the number of users that could connect to your hotspot at a time. Instead you leave the option open. Worst of it all is not setting up a password for your hotspot in order to restrict unwanted users or general public.

I will share with you my experience back then in school. I usually set up password for my hotspot but I couldn't remember what happened, but all I know is that that faithfully day, I forgot to restrict my hotspot. When I got to school area, I needed to do an online registration, so I turned on my hotspot. And remember it was unrestricted. I then continued my work not until after 30 minutes I got an SMS from Glo Nigeria informing me that I have used up 75% of my data plan.

Guys I bought that data early morning of that same day. I then became confused as to what happened because I knew that my laptop could not have consumed such a high amount of data within that short period of time. As I checked my hotspot number of connected devices and I saw about 6 of them. And that was when it down on me not to forget restricting my hotspot connection.

These could therfore occur but when you are well guided and protected, your hotspot could be on and you won't be afraid because you and you alone has the key to access it.

9. Slow operation and response of smartphone: My friend due to your former phone sluggishness you could not do a lot of things on your device and now the new one is lightning fast probably due to a higher Processor and now you could watch Facebook video, WhatsApp status video and pictures, Instagram video YouTube videos, twitter video and you are complaining?

My friend, you haven't known what's up yet? Since you have gotten a better device now with a better Processor. You could do alot of things at once. Hence paving the way for multitasking abilities and at the same time multitasking your data plan. Funny right? Truth be told. If you want to enjoy the best From Smartphones, you should be able to give the best except you want to buy an expensive smartphone and still under using the device. It's a pity.

How do you know which app consume data the most?
It is simply. Just follow the instructions below. And this will help you in detecting those data consumption apps.and how much data each individual app has consumed. All will be stated clearly and  it will help you on how to control these apps from further data destruction.

Follow the steps below

1. Locate and tap on SETTINGS
2. Scroll and Locate connection and sharing and tap

3. Scroll to and tap on Data usage

4. Select any of the Sims to view exactly how many Gigabyte has been used being arranged according to the highest number of app. And that's all.

CONCLUSIVELY

I would like to say that technology has advanced greatly and many technology found now weren't available earlier. So for an individual to purchase and use a smartphone at this era is also an improvement which should come with an improved cost and expenses if you are going to enjoy your device to the later. Mind you there are many online games today that depends on data plans to synchronise it's data to cloud example of such is FIFA game, PES etc.

All the aforementioned factors are solely responsible for data usage no doubt about that. And if you observe those factors are hardly going to be avoided. Does it then mean that you shouldn't enjoy your device then? Please don't get me wrong. Am just trying to open your eyes to the fact and reason as to why your data plans are expiring earlier than expected so that an individual could either adjust or purchase more volume of data to satisfy online needs.

I will soon be dropping other tutorials and eye opening article related to this particular one. Do ensure to share this and don't forget to check back. Thanks.

Some of the device other features include the availability of a Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and 4G LTE. The Oppo A93 costs at $ 323 which will amount into N 124,000 in Nigeria.
